Word Gardener – Tip #3 : Same Same
Children learn words through repetition and predictability. “Same Same” means using the same short words and phrases during familiar routines—said in the same way each time. Consistent language reduces confusion, builds understanding and helps children feel confident enough to begin using the words themselves. Repetition isn’t boring—it helps words grow!

Memory working? Not working? What is WORKING MEMORY?
“It’s like it goes in one ear and out the other…” If you’ve ever heard someone say this about a child, you may have senses their frustration. But think how frustrating it would be for the child actually experiencing these issues. It's not laziness, it's not a behavioural trait— it very well could be issues with working memory. This essential type of memory underpins learning, attention, and language - and is yoften understood. Learn to recognise it - and learn how to help.

Word Gardener – Tip #2: Temptations
Communication Temptations are simple, everyday ways to create a reason for a child to communicate using something that they REALLY love. By setting something up — and then pausing — you give your child the opportunity to attempt communication. It’s not about withholding. It’s about creating meaningful motivating opportunities.
